The great Covid Pandemic of 2020 was a lot of things to a lot of people. For some it was the most frightening of times that highlighted just how fragile we are as species on this planet. For others it was a time of restless boredom and copious amounts of wine fueled Zoom calls during lockdowns. And then, there were those that saw opportunity amidst the tragedy and chaos. Who saw dollar signs in all the misery.

Welcome to the greatest grift in U.S. history!

At least that is what the Associated Press is calling it, after their recent analysis discovered that over $400 Billion in federal COVID-19 relief aid was either stolen or wasted. Yes, it appears that $400 billion of U.S. tax dollars meant to help struggling businesses in a devastated economy during the worst pandemic of our time was plundered or misspent.

The Associated Press reports that…

“…fraudsters potentially stole more than $280 billion in COVID-19 relief funding; another $123 billion was wasted or misspent. Combined, the loss represents 10% of the $4.2 trillion the U.S. government has so far disbursed in COVID relief aid.

That number is certain to grow as investigators dig deeper into thousands of potential schemes.”

Just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside doesn’t it?
