Nope Means Yes

Jordan Peele's new film redefines Hollywood but is Hollywood listening?
1

As the summer movie season rages on, one unique and original film is this years diamond in the rough. In what is now a rarity in cinema, director Jordan Peele’s new film Nope isn’t based on a pre-existing property, it’s not a sequel, and its not the beginning of a brand new franchise. It is instead a wholly original summer blockbuster that dares to make audiences think for their entertainment. A truly daring concept in the age of spoon-fed plots and mass appeal corporate cinema.

So how did this daring film make it onto summer movie screens? Tyrel Ventura sits down with author and Georgetown Professor, Chris Chambers to discuss Nope and its maverick director, Jordan Peele.

Christopher Chambers is a professor at Georgetown University in Washington DC and Chair of the International Conflict Resolution Center. He is also an avid film buff, and the author of best selling crime novels, a graphic novel, and numerous award-winning short stories, including “I, Shuri,” in Marvel’s Tales of Wakanda. His latest book, Scavenger, features a homeless addict turned a private investigator; that character returns in Standalone, coming in October.
