From Syria to Somalia Most U.S. Citizens Have No Idea Where We Fight or Why.
842 Billion Dollars.
That is the proposed 2024 budget that the United States Department of Defense is currently asking for. $842 Billion. It has a certain majesty to it, doesn’t it? Like when you run up a major gambling debt and then, at 3am, you say, “To hell with it!” and let it all ride on a 14 when the blackjack dealer is showing a Queen of Diamonds.
Let it ride appears to be the order of the day when it comes to U.S. military spending and saber rattling these days. As Russia ups the nuclear ante in Ukraine and the xenophobic war hawks in the U.S. Congress continue to push China into a corner. Seems that no one in the hallowed halls of power in Washington D.C. even dares to whisper a call for restraint these days. Let alone bring up that most dirtiest of words… peace.
