In just four short weeks the United States of America will jump back into the voting booth and decide who gets to reside in the House of White for the next four years. Are you ready America? Have you made a list of who’s naughty and nice? Have you checked it twice?

In a well functioning democratic republic this time of year should be filled with excitement, debate, and hope. The excitement of being able to decide who gets to sit in our chair of leadership. The debate of healthy ideas and policy. And finally, the hope that, with each vote cast, a new and better future awaits us. That’s what an election year should be like. Instead, we are facing down a U.S. presidential election that has many citizens fearing a deluge of post election violence and mayhem.

According to a recent poll released this week by the The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights…

"…voters across the country are very worried about political violence (73 percent) and threats to democracy (81 percent)”

This comes on the heels of a September report by Vox which highlighted that…

Going on, Vox journalist Nicole Narea points out that…

“…Among Republicans who don’t believe Biden’s win in 2020 was legitimate, almost one-third said in an August poll by the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University that they expected “a lot” or “a great deal” of political violence after the November election.”

This is the new political reality here in the Trump era of U.S. politics. If the vote doesn’t go my way then it must be rigged. Why? Because Donald Trump said so and if the “Great Leader” says it’s rigged then it must be true.
